RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced its annual All-Met teams on Monday, and Manhattan College senior guard Michelle Pacheco (Bronx, N.Y.) was selected to the All-Met Second Team. Pacheco earned a place on the All-MAAC First Team after leading the Lady Jaspers to a 15-15 record and fourth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in 2009-10.
Pacheco started all 30 games as a senior and placed second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game. She averaged a league-leading 5.0 assists per game and placed second in the MAAC in steals (2.7 spg). Pacheco also ranked among the top 10 in the MAAC in field goal percentage (sixth, .403), free throw percentage (sixth, .773), assist/turnover ratio (fifth, 1.3) and minutes played (fifth, 34.9). She notched seven 20-point efforts and shared MAAC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 8. In the Lady Jaspers' 65-62 Senior Day upset of eventual MAAC champion Marist on Feb. 28, Pacheco poured in a career-high 28 points and didn't commit a turnover, as Manhattan snapped its 14-game losing streak against the Red Foxes.
Her 149 assists this season were the fourth-highest single-season total in program history, while her 80 steals were fifth-best for a single-season at Manhattan. Pacheco finished her career ranked seventh on the Lady Jaspers' all-time assists list (328) and 11th all-time with 165 career steals.
Pacheco will be honored at the NIT/MBWA Awards Dinner at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, N.Y., on Wednesday night, April 21. Now in its 77th year, the Met Writers Dinner is the oldest annual college basketball awards dinner in the United States.
