RIVERDALE, N.Y. - After averaging 13.0 points and 4.0 rebounds last week, freshman guard/forward Monica Roeder (Marlton, N.J.) of the Manhattan College women's basketball team has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week.  This marks the second time this season Roeder has been honored by the conference, and her first Rookie of the Week selection.  She was named MAAC Player of the Week on Nov. 15.

Roeder tallied a game-high 18 points in the Lady Jaspers' 61-49 victory at Maryland Eastern Shore last Monday.  She contributed eight points during a 16-5 Manhattan rally midway through the first half, then went 2-for-3 at the free throw line late in the game, as the Lady Jaspers pulled away for the victory.  Roeder shot .389 (7-of-18) from the field and added a career-high five rebounds against the Lady Hawks.

Against Lafayette on Thursday night, Roeder tallied eight points, going 3-for-5 from the field and 2-for-3 from three-point range.  She also had three rebounds and a block in the 53-50 loss, which snapped Manhattan's four-game winning streak.

For the season, Roeder ranks second on the team with an average of 9.0 points per game.  She drains 2.0 three-pointers per game to rank third in the MAAC, and she is fifth in the conference in three-point percentage (.400).

The Lady Jaspers (5-3) are off until Saturday, when they visit Fordham (6-5) for the annual "Battle of the Bronx" at 7 p.m.
