Men's Soccer Downed by Rider 3-1

Riverdale,  N.Y.  -  The Manhattan College men's soccer team was defeated by Rider University 3-1 Friday in a match played at Gaelic Park.  The team will conclude its season Sunday on Senior Day vs. Loyola University at 10 a.m.

Rider went out to 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute on a goal by Billy Voulsinas who scored a highlight reel goal, striking a volley from just in front of the midfield stripe.

Manhattan evened the score about 17 minutes into the second half, when Jasper senior Nicholas Patrikis hit a free kick for his first goal of the year.  But Rider came right back to take the lead about two minutes later when Nico Tramonta one times a free kick from about 25 yards out off an assist from Sal Lubrano.

Rider then got an insurance goal  in the 76h minute when Sam Kotowski flicked the ball over Manhattan goalkeeper Christopher Todd from about 10 yards out.

Rider outshot Manhattan on the evening 21-14 and had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.  Todd had eight saves in goal for Manhattan (now 1-16-1, 0-8 in the MAAC).  Mat Perrella had five saves in goal for Rider (now 5-11-0 overall and 2-6 in the MAAC).
