Barry Rohrssen "Operation Hardwood V" Blog

RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? Manhattan men's basketball coach Barry Rohrssen is hosting a live blog exclusively at GoJaspers.com to correspond with Jasper fans while touring the Persian Gulf Region as part of Operation Hardwood V. Operation Hardwood is a tour sponsored by the United States Organizations (USO) and Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE) created to boost morale and bring a touch of home to those in uniform. Rohrssen begins the excursion on August 4 as he travels to the nation's capital to meet the wounded service members receiving care at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center, prior to visiting their comrades serving abroad. The blog will highlight Rohrssen's daily experiences with those bravely serving our country.

Rohrssen will be joined by Jerry Wainwright (DePaul University), Jeff Jones (American University), Brian Gregory (University of Dayton), Tom Pecora (Hofstra University), Tom Schuberth (University of Texas-Pan American), Reggie Minton (National Association of Basketball Coaches) and Fran Fraschilla (ESPN) in this journey. In total, Operation Hardwood has deployed more than 35 NCAA basketball coaches and sports personalities to Kuwait and Japan.

Operation Hardwood V will feature a week-long basketball tournament and championship game with some of the best military players stationed overseas.
