Riverdale, N.Y. (March 3, 2008) - Seniors Caitlin Flood and Gabrielle Cottrell have been named to All-MAAC Teams as announced by the conference today. Flood has been named to the First Team All-MAAC and Cottrell takes home Third Team All-MAAC honors.
Flood has had a stellar season reaching the 1,000 point plateau on December 2, against Howard University. She is the 16th Lady Jaspers to score 1,000 points and is currently the 5th all-time scorer for Manhattan College. Flood was third in the conference with 17.0 points per game, fifth in field goal percentage (.497) and eighth in free throw percentage (.805). She currently leads the team in points and rebounds per game (6.1). Flood set her career high 28 points on February 27 against Fairfield and is a three time MAAC Player of the Week.
Cottrell has flourished this season as she is fourth in the conference with a 42.3% 3-point field goal shooting. She has made 60 three pointers this season, setting a Manhattan College single season record. Set her career high with 22 points against Iona, where she hit another career high 8 three point field goals. Cottrell is second on the team in free throw shooting, posting a 91.9%. Cottrell is averaging 12.1 points per game for the Lady J's and shooting 41.9% from the field.
Manhattan will enter the MAAC Championship Tournament as the #4 seed and will take on #5 seeded Saint Peter's College on Friday, March 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and will be televised on MSG as well as broadcasted through GoJaspers.com.
