Manhattan was picked to finish atop the MAAC conference according to various preseason polls. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper chose the Jaspers to win the league in 2008, while the conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll and Baseball America picked Manhattan to finish second overall.
Last season, the Jaspers posted an impressive 35-19 overall mark, 21-5 league record and advanced to the MAAC title game. Among Manhattan's top returnees stands sophomore Tom Costigan. Costigan was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team and is expected to pick up where he left off last season after earning Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honors.
The Jaspers home opener is schedule for March 12 versus America East opponent UAlbany. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
