Riverdale, N.Y. (January 22, 2008) ? Senior forward Caitlin Flood has been named MAAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference yesterday. Flood split the award this week with Siena senior forward Laura Menty. This is Flood's third time receiving this award this season.
In Manhattan's 61-59 win over Saint Peter's, Flood tied her career high with 27 points. This is her second time tying her career high in points as she also scored 27 against the Peahens in their match-up earlier this season. Flood was 9-15 (60%) from the floor and 8-9 (88%) from the free throw line. She grabbed seven boards as well as dishing out three assists in Manhattan's only game this week. Flood's 27 points gives her 1,196 career points, moving up to eighth place on Manhattan's all time scoring list.
Flood continues her red hot season as she is averaging 18.1 points per game this year, tying her for second place in scoring in the conference. She is shooting 52% from the field this season as well as averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.
Flood and the Lady Jaspers will return to action this weekend as they will travel to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on Canisius College on January 25. Tip-off is schedule for 7:00 p.m.
