Riverdale, N.Y. (August 27, 2007) -- The Manhattan College men's soccer team held an alumni day Saturday, August 25th, featuring 15-minute mini-matches between teams of Manhattan's current players and alums.
“This was an outstanding way of reconnecting our program with the alumni, who showed great spirit and expressed great appreciation for the event,” said Manhattan Head Coach Michael Swanwick.
“In conversations after the matches, the alumni were very impressed with our level of play and expressed a great deal of optimism that our relatively young squad will do very well this year,” Swanwick added. “And they were absolutely thrilled about the new field at Gaelic Park.”
Some 25 players from the 1970s, 80s, 90s and 200s participated for the alumni; they were treated to a barbeque hosted by the current squad's families after the matches.
