MEN'S SOCCER ANNOUNCES 2005 RECRUITING CLASS

Riverdale, NY (July 5, 2005)- First-year Manhattan College men's soccer head coach Michael Swanwick announced today that nine recruits are set to join the Jaspers for the 2005 fall season.

"Our staff's first recruiting class is a nice blend of incoming freshmen and transfers," commented Coach Swanwick. "This outstanding group of recruits will add needed depth to our relatively-young existing squad and will allow Manhattan College soccer to get to the next level both inside and outside the MAAC."

Incoming freshmen joining the Manhattan College Jaspers in the fall include John DelliPriscolli (Montpelier, VT/Montpelier), Sean Morin (Poughkeepsie, NY/R.C. Ketcham), Joe Pardo (Valhalla, NY/Westlake), Dan Shemanski (Manasquan, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) and Daniel Yedowitz (Yonkers, NY/Rye). Incoming transfers will include: Justin Campbell (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro/Ocean Community College), John-Vincent Faviano (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington/Dominican College), Bryan Knight (Merrick, NY/Calhoun/Dominican College) and Chris Smith (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville/New Paltz).

Here is an in-depth look at the incoming freshmen:

John Dellipriscolli is a 5-8 midfielder/forward who played club ball for the Far Post Soccer Club, this year's Vermont State Cup champion. A tri-captain on his Montepelier H.S. soccer team, he was an All-State and All-Conference selection and was the 2004 Times Argus Boys Soccer Player of the Year. Also a standout hoopster, he was selected as an All-State and All-Conference basketball player. Dellipriscolli is expected to compete for playing time in the central midfield and at striker.

Sean Morin, a 5-11 defender who played for the well-known F.C. Westchester premier soccer club, was also a four-year member of the Eastern New York Olympic Development program. A standout on his R.C. Ketcham H.S. squad, Morin achieved All-League honors and helped lead his high school team to sectional championships in 2002 and 2004 and New York State Final Fours in both of those years. He was also a member of the Hudson Valley Empire State team. He is expected to contribute right away as a marking back for the Jaspers.

Joe Pardo, a 6-0 defender, played club ball with New Rochelle and was an All-Section and All-League stalwart at Westlake H.S. He is also a former member of the Westchester Youth Soccer League Select program. Pardo could provide depth on the Jaspers' backline.

Dan Shemanski, a 5-11 defender, plays for the well-known Match Fit soccer club and was a three-year member of the New Jersey Olympic Development Program. Playing for Christian Brothers Academy, he helped his squad to the 2004 Shore Conference championship and was selected 2nd-Team All Shore in 2004. Shemanski is expected to challenge for playing time both as a marking back and central defender.

Dan Yedowitz, a 6-0 defender/midfielder, played club ball for the Mahopac Knights. He was also a member of the Westchester Youth Soccer League's Select program. At Rye H.S., he was the team's captain and led the team to sectional appearances in 2003 and 2004. He is expected to provide depth on both the backline and in the midfield for the Jaspers.

Here is an in-depth look at the incoming transfers:

Justin Campbell, a 5-10 striker, comes to Manhattan College after an outstanding season at Ocean Community College in New Jersey, where he led the team in goals and total points. He transferred to Ocean C.C. from Bloomsburg University after missing the 2003 season with a broken foot. Prior to college, he was an All-State, All-County and All-Conference performer at Point Pleasant Boro H.S. He is expected to contribute to the Jaspers as a scoring forward.

John-Vincent Faviano, a 5-9 defender/midfielder, transfers to Manhattan after a year at Dominican College in Orangeburg, NY, which won both the 2004 CACC and ECAC championships. Prior to college, he attended Arlington H.S. in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he captained the 2003 NY Section 1 championship team. He played for the well-known FC Westchester club and was a two-year member of the Eastern NY Olympic Development team. He is expected to challenge for playing time as both a midfielder and defender.

Bryan Knight, a 6-0 defender, also transfers to Manhattan from Dominican College, where he was a two-year starter. During Dominican's 2004 CACC and ECAC championship runs, he was selected as a member of the ECAC All Tournament Team. Playing in high school, Knight was an All-Conference selection at Calhoun H.S. and was a member of the Merrick Red Storm Soccer Club, which was a State Cup championship team. Knight is expected to contribute right away on the Jaspers' backline.

Chris Smith, a 5-10 midfielder, transfers to Manhattan from SUNY New Paltz, where he was a two-year starter for a team that reached its conference tournament in both years. In high school, he was a five-year varsity player and was named an All-Section performer. He also played soccer for the well-known FC Westchester premier soccer club, and he was a member of the Empire State Open team in 2004. Smith is expected to compete right away for playing time at midfield for the Jaspers.
