Javier Escobedo was named to the MAAC Men's Soccer All-Rookie Team, while junior
Joe Pumo and sophomore
Tom Maguire were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, it was announced last night at the MAAC Awards Banquet.
Escobedo started all 15 games he played in, and was tied for the team lead in both goals (4) and points (9). Named MAAC Rookie of the Week on October 25 after having a hand in all four goals the Jaspers scored during that week. Escobedo led the team in shots with 41, and finished among the conference leaders in MAAC games in shots per game (tied-fourth) and goals per game (tied-ninth).
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution, be a significant starter or reserve and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Pumo, who carries a 3.62 GPA in education, and Maguire, who holds a 3.25 GPA in business, were the Manhattan representatives on the MAAC All-Academic team. This is Pumo's second appearance on the MAAC All-Academic team.
The Jaspers concluded their season with a 3-14-0 record, 1-8-0 in MAAC play.
