Jason Orban was officially tabbed as Assistant Coach on Monday, August 4, 2025. He begins his first season in Riverdale for the 2025 season.
The Manorville native joins the Jaspers Men's Soccer program after spending the 2024 season as an assistant coach for the LIU Women's Soccer program under Giovatto's tutelage.
Prior to his brief stint on his native Long Island, Orban was part of the Columbia Men's Soccer staff as an assistant coach, where he oversaw the rise of 2024 MLS Next Pro Goalkeeper of the Year and current MLS side FC Dallas goalkeeper, Michael Collodi.
Orban joined Giovatto at St. Francis Brooklyn as an assistant coach in 2019, where the duo won two regular season Northeast Conference titles in the Spring and Fall of 2021. Capitalizing the spring season into a conference tournament title and winning the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament match vs. Milwaukee weeks later.
He oversaw the rise of the Terriers' first ever Major League Soccer Superdraft draftee and NEC Player of the Year El-Mahdi Yousouffi, along with a pair of NEC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, and one NEC Goalkeeper of the Year.
Throughout his tenure in Brooklyn Heights, Orban assisted in developing 14 All-NEC selections, six All-Rookie selections, six All-Region players, and two NEC Male Student Athletes of the Year. St. Francis Brooklyn also had four straight Team Academic Awards and the program's first ever Academic All-American. Orban and the St. Francis Brooklyn staff were recognized twice as part of the NEC Coaching Staff of the Year and one United Soccer Coaches Northeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.
Orban started his collegiate coaching career in his backyard at St. Joseph's Long Island with the Golden Eagles on the Division III circuit. In just one season, he led the program to its best regular season winning percentage in six years, while his attack led the Skyline Conference in offensive statistics. Orban also coached the conference's player of the year. He started at St. Joseph's as the top assistant and goalkeeper coach from 2016-18.
At the club level, Orban was most recently the Youth Technical Director for Brooklyn City FC since June 2021. Among his many duties, Orban created the club game model, training methodology, curriculum and periodization plans. He also managed the club's Men's Cosmopolitan Soccer League program since August 2020, also serving as Director of Goalkeeping and head coach. Brooklyn City won the city title in 2022 (Harry J. Saunders) and was promoted in the CSL from Division III to Division II.
Additionally, Orban spent four years with the East Region Girls ODP as a staff coach, responsible for selecting and developing talent pools for international and inter-regional competitions.
Orban holds a United States Soccer Federation B License and was recognized as a United Soccer Coaches "30 Under 30" list in 2019-2020.
As a student-athlete, Orban was a goalkeeper at Stony Brook University from 2013-15, where he started 27 matches for the Seawolves, and was named twice America East Player of the Week.
