Tommy Dempsey is entering his fourth season on John Gallagher’s staff, and second full season as Assistant Coach, after opening his tenure as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Jaspers’ Men’s Basketball program.

Dempsey has been instrumental in building the Jaspers’ program, that saw its largest year-over-year win total from 2023-24 to 2024-25 of 10 victories, while overseeing the then-MAAC Rookie of the Year Will Sydnor, and then-MAAC All-Second Teamer Jaden Winston the following campaign.

The Binghamton, NY native played college basketball at Providence College in the Big East under current-Georgetown head coach Ed Cooley, while joining his father, Tommy Sr.’s Binghamton Bearcat team in 2020-21.

During his time in the Ocean State, Dempsey played in six games, and was a preferred walk-on for the Friars, and scored his first collegiate points with a triple against Merrimack. In the classroom, Dempsey shone while being recognized as part of the Big East All-Academic Team.

In High School, Dempsey was a standout for Seton Catholic Central, where he helped the Saints win back-to-back Southern Tier Athletic Conference (STAC) championships. As a senior, Dempsey was ranked No. 2 in the State of New York with 88 triples. Throughout that time, Dempsey shot a few ticks under 40 percent from distance, while averaging a team high 17.0 points for a team that logged a 19-4 win-loss record.
