POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (4-2-1, 1-1-1 Metro), on the backs of four saves from
Molly Brunk, drew in its Metro contest against the Red Foxes from Marist (2-6-1, 2-1-1 Metro) by a final score of 0-0 inside Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marist missed on a few shots within the first few minutes, before Brunk made her first save of the night in the 19th minute.
- Shortly after in the 21st, newcomer Baileigh Johnson generated a shot on target of her own, with Samantha Graf recording the save on behalf of the Red Foxes.
- The home team continued to create pressure in the offensive zone, but Brunk stayed comfortable with none of them reaching the final line of defense.
- Olivia McMaster tallied the final three shots for Manhattan in the first half before the break, with the middle one forcing another save from Graf.
- A different tune began to play in the second half, as each side combined for three shots in the opening 90 seconds, with Brunk recording her second save of the evening.
- 15 minutes nearly passed before another chance found its way to the net, as McMaster's second shot on target didn't break through the line in the 59th.
- With just under 20 minutes to play, Logan Smith received a red card, putting the Jaspers at 10 on the field the rest of the way.
- The Red Foxes pushed with this new advantage, forcing Brunk to make two saves in 40 seconds in the 82nd and 83rd minutes.
- As the Green and White defense stood tall, neither side could find paydirt before the horn sounded, with the squads settling for a 0-0 draw.
