RIVERDALE, NY - Joining an elite class of past Jasper greats, seven inductees will be welcomed into Manhattan University's Athletic Hall of Fame, with two teams receiving special recognition.
Bobby Gonzalez, Former Head Coach of Men's Basketball (1999-2006),
Chrissy Gutenberger Hart '12 (Women's Lacrosse),
Kate Bowen Kiernan '14 (Softball),
Mike McCann '11 (Baseball),
Brian McGovern '13 (Men's Track & Field),
Kristen Skonieczny '16 (Women's Soccer), and
Brett Warmington '05 (Men's Lacrosse), will all be inducted at the annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Special recognition for the 2001-02 Men's Cross Country/Track & Field and 2003-04 Men's Basketball teams will also take place, putting their seasons of dominance on full display.

MANHATTAN UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME – CLASS OF 2025
Bobby Gonzalez (Men's Basketball) – Taking over a struggling program, Gonzalez went 129-77 in his seven seasons to resurrect a hotbed of Division I college basketball in the Northeast. His biggest highlights include: Back-to-back Holiday Festival Championships at Madison Square Garden (2001, 2002) including breaking a 24-year losing streak to St. John's, an NCAA Tournament win in 2003-04, taking down #5 Florida in the Round of 64 and pushing #4 Wake Forest and NBA legend Chris Paul to the brink in the Round of 32, and two National Invitation Tournament (NIT) appearances, including an upset of #1 Maryland in College Park.
Chrissy Gutenberger Hart '12 (Women's Lacrosse) – One of the most prolific scorers to put on a Jasper uniform in any sport. Scoring 54 goals in her freshman season, the mark still holds up as the program's highest scoring output by a rookie. Ranks second all-time in program goals (164) and points (196). Her list of accolades include MAAC Rookie of the Year (2009), All-MAAC First Team (2009), All-MAAC Second Team (2010), and named a top 50 MAAC Women's Lacrosse athlete in 2020.
Kate Bowen Kiernan '14 (Softball) – A true symbol of versatility as a student-athlete. While a resume of two All-MAAC First Team Selections (2012, 2013), one All-MAAC Second Team (2011), one All-Northeast Region First Team appearance, and hanging up the cleats as all-time leader in games played (190), and at-bats (618), her academic achievements shine even brighter. Graduating as the 2014 Manhattan College Valedictorian, Bowen Kiernan set the standard for accomplishment both in and out of a Green and White uniform.
Mike McCann '11 (Baseball) – A champion player through and through. His 85 hits in 2009 rank as the highest mark in program history, and seventh all-time in conference history. His stellar season earned him All-MAAC First Team honors, which he followed up with again in 2011. McCann's contributions in his senior season of 2011 brought the team a MAAC Championship, taking down Siena 5-1 in Trenton, New Jersey. McCann hung up the cleats holding fourth place all-time in hits (233), home runs (31), RBI (161) and runs scored (172).
Brian McGovern '13 (Men's Track & Field) – Displayed his athletic prowess with ease on a regular basis, winning the pole vault at the MAAC Championships in all eight chances he got, both in the indoor and outdoor seasons. He also won multiple non-conference outings for the Jaspers, and his record of 17'7'' still holding as a school and conference record to this day. His other highlights include qualifying for the NCAA East Regional on three occasions, and winning the USA Track & Field East Regional Championship in 2013.
Kristen Skonieczny '16 (Women's Soccer) – Retired as arguably the greatest goalkeeper in Manhattan history. Her 25 wins between the posts still hold as a program record to this day, and her 18 shutouts also sat in first place until 2025. Named MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year and All-MAAC First Team in 2015, thanks in part to a 0.70 goals-against-average, also a program record. Also in 2015, her .875 save percentage ranked eighth across all of the NCAA. 15 saves in the 2015 MAAC Semifinals helped advance her team to the conference championship game, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Brett Warmington '05 (Men's Lacrosse) – Anchored a strong backline over four great seasons in the Green and White. As a freshman, his defense was a critical factor in Manhattan taking down Mount St. Mary's for the 2002 MAAC Championship. His junior and senior seasons saw him emerge as one of the top defenders the conference had to offer, collecting All-MAAC First Team honors in both seasons (2004, 2005), including winning Defensive Player of the Year in the latter. He still holds the fourth-highest number of ground balls collected in program history (192).
2001-02 Men's Track & Field – The only program in the 21st century to win the MAAC Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field, and Outdoor Track & Field Championships all in one academic season. One of the most dominant collections of athletes to ever roam the halls of Riverdale.
2003-04 Men's Basketball – Captured the hearts of America for a brief period in March of 2004. In a one-month span, the Jaspers beat Wisconsin-Milwaukee on the road in an "ESPN Bracket Buster" nationally televised matchup, won the MAAC Championship with a nail-biting 62-61 win over Niagara in Albany, and won the program's only NCAA Tournament game of the 21st century, taking down #5 Florida in Raleigh, North Carolina.
A Special Dedication: Honoring Coach Fred Dwyer
The
Manhattan University Alumni Society's 47th Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on
Saturday, November 7, 2026 with this year's celebration honoring
Coach Fred Dwyer, the longtime Men's Track & Field head coach who led Manhattan to its 1973 NCAA National Championship in Indoor Track & Field. Dwyer's impact extended far beyond the track, leaving a lasting legacy on generations of student-athletes and the Manhattan University community.
The ceremony will honor the Class of 2026 and recognize two teams for their contributions to Manhattan Athletics. The evening will begin with a 4:00 p.m. Mass in the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers, offered for the intention of Coach Dwyer, followed by cocktails at 5:00 p.m. and dinner and the induction ceremony at 6:00 p.m. in the Raymond W. Kelly '63 Student Commons Great Hall.
