RIVERDALE, NY – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) named 1,432 universities and colleges across the nation, with Manhattan Men's Volleyball being selected as one to have maintained a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale for the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award, per release on Thursday afternoon.
"I'm proud of the team for working hard in the classroom and earning AVCA Team Academic honors," said Head Coach Chris Schortgen.
"This is another standard set and building block for the foundation of this program to build on. We look forward to continued success on and off the court."
As a team, the Jaspers posted a 3.46 grade-point average. Individually, the Men's Volleyball team garnered 12 of 15 players on the roster with a 3.3 grade-point average. 80 percent of the combined inaugural roster qualified for the first team award in as many years in existence.
