RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Manhattan Men's Basketball Head Coach John Gallagher has announced the addition of 6-5 senior guard Josiah Sabino on Wednesday afternoon.

"Josiah is a talented veteran who brings hard-nosed defensive effort to the Jaspers," described Gallagher.

During his lone season with the Niagara Purple Eagles, Sabino competed in 28 games and made 10 starts, averaging 20.7 minutes per game.

Sabino converted 68-for-150 attempts for a .453 clip from the floor, while totaling
a dozen triples from distance on 49 attempts. From the free-throw line, Sabino joins a Jasper team that finished in the top three nationally from the charity stripe, converting 50-for-55 for a 90.9 percentage mark.

"Josiah rebounds at an excellent clip.  His defensive rebounding rate was in the top 1% of players in the nation.  He also is an elite cutter on offense and knows the MAAC well."

On the glass, the Jacksonville, FL native posted 129 total rebounds, with 104 coming on the defensive side.  Sabino totaled 198 points and averaged 7.1 points per game in just 20 minutes of action per game.

During conference play, Sabino converted 46% from the floor, highlighted by a 19-point performance against the reigning MAAC Champions, Siena, on 7-of-8 shooting and four-of-five from beyond-the-arc.  He grabbed four rebounds in that same effort against the Saints on January 30, 2026.

Before joining the MAAC landscape, Sabino made a stop on the JUCO circuit for the Broncbusters of Garden City Community College. He played 30 games, while starting 16. During the campaign, Sabino averaged 11.7 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, and posted a 50 percent clip from the floor and 38 percent from distance.

He scored a collegiate career high of 24 points in a contest against Independence Community College on December 4, 2024.

Sabino started his collegiate career at Jacksonville University in the Atlantic Sun Conference in Division I and appeared in 19 games with three starts during the 2023-24 campaign as a redshirt freshman. Sabino averaged nearly ten minutes on the floor, while registering a 38.3 clip from the floor, had 54 total rebounds, and four blocks.

Towards the end of the calendar year, with 25 minutes on the floor against Erskine, Sabino dazzled with a then-NCAA high 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while grabbing 11 rebounds for his first double-double.  He added three assists, one block, and converted 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. The Dolphins powered their way to a double-digit victory over Fleet on December 30.

The Jacksonville, FL product earned four varsity letters from Orange Park High School, where he racked up a Times-Union All-First Coast Player of the Year Award, All-County, while selected to the First Team All-State squad after tallying 24.9 points-per-game, and 6.8 rebounds-per-game.

Additionally, Sabino spread his wings in other sports, including Track and Field and swimming.

Finally, in the classroom, Sabino was part of the National Honor Society and was tabbed Class Historian.

In Riverdale, Sabino will be pursuing a master's degree in organizational leadership.

"This versatile and athletic guard will help our team in many ways.  We can't wait to coach Josiah!"
