BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's lacrosse team (0-4), despite a pair of goals from Julia Kerr, dropped its home opener against the Sharks from LIU (2-2) by a final score of 12-6 at Shark Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- LIU got things going quickly, as Lindsey Lucia scored the first goal 69 seconds into play.
- On top of stopping a free position opportunity, Sophie Pasnak registered a save towards the end of the first quarter.
- After building up a five goal advantage midway through the second frame, Logan Pilon took advantage of a free position attempt to put the first Jasper goal on the board.
- Fresh out of the locker room, it was Kerr to make it two straight goals for Manhattan, cutting their deficit to three.
- Following three insurance goals from the Sharks, Meghan Wendler and Marissa Mongon tallied two scores in 20 seconds, assisted by Jaclyn Mahoney and Avery Graham in that order.
- Before the third quarter horn sounded, Kerr rallied for her second of the day, as the deficit grew to 10-5 by quarter's end.
- Ella Brunette scored the sixth and final Jasper goal with less than 10 minutes to play.
STATS AND NOTES
- Sophomore attacker Julia Kerr led the team in goals, scoring her eighth and ninth of 2026.
- Sophomore midfielder Meghan Wendler and midfielder Marissa Mongon each tallied their first goals of the season this afternoon.
- Freshman attacker Ella Brunette and defender Avery Graham tied for the most caused turnovers for Manhattan with two apiece.
- Junior midfielder Audrey Ziff tied with Brunette for the most draw controls won with three each.
- Redshirt Junior goalkeeper Sophie Pasnak logged seven saves through a full 60 minutes.

Manhattan will continue its 2026 campaign on Saturday, February 28 when the Jaspers welcome the Dolphins from Le Moyne to Gaelic Park. Action is scheduled to take place starting at 12 noon and can be viewed on the Jasper Sports Network.
