Women's Lacrosse Falls to LIU

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's lacrosse team (0-4), despite a pair of goals from Julia Kerr, dropped its home opener against the Sharks from LIU (2-2) by a final score of 12-6 at Shark Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • LIU got things going quickly, as Lindsey Lucia scored the first goal 69 seconds into play.
  • On top of stopping a free position opportunity, Sophie Pasnak registered a save towards the end of the first quarter.
  • After building up a five goal advantage midway through the second frame, Logan Pilon took advantage of a free position attempt to put the first Jasper goal on the board.
  • Fresh out of the locker room, it was Kerr to make it two straight goals for Manhattan, cutting their deficit to three.
  • Following three insurance goals from the Sharks, Meghan Wendler and Marissa Mongon tallied two scores in 20 seconds, assisted by Jaclyn Mahoney and Avery Graham in that order.
  • Before the third quarter horn sounded, Kerr rallied for her second of the day, as the deficit grew to 10-5 by quarter's end.
  • Ella Brunette scored the sixth and final Jasper goal with less than 10 minutes to play.
