EDISON, N.J. - After compiling a versatile weekend from both the batter's box and pitching circle, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced Manhattan's
Natalye DeBus has won the Rookie of the Week award, according to a press release from the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Last week, teammate and fellow newcomer
Lainey Brown won the same award.
Tacking on a hit in each of the Jaspers' three games at the Elon Softball Invitational, the pitcher/third baseman added on four RBI. This included the game-winning single in the third inning of a 2-1 win over Delaware State on Saturday.
The San Diego, California native took advantage of the warmer weather in Elon, as she was the only member of the Green and White to collect an RBI in each contest.
From the circle, DeBus pitched all seven innings in Saturday's win over the Hornets, fanning seven batters while allowing only one earned run.
DeBus will continue contributing to the Jaspers this weekend when the program travels out west to the Mustang Classic hosted by Cal Poly. Manhattan will commence play starting on Friday, February 20, when they play Sacramento State at 12:30 PM EST. Video will not be available for games not played against Cal Poly, and live statistics will be posted later this week.
