RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's basketball team (5-14, 5-5 MAAC), despite 38 combined points from Colette Mulderig (21) and Brianna Davis (17), dropped its conference contest to the Bobcats from Quinnipiac (16-4, 11-0 MAAC) by a final score of 76-54 inside Draddy Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Quinnipiac scored the first nine points of the day, capped off by a pull-up jump shot from Ella Ryan.
- Mulderig collected the first four points on behalf of the Jaspers, coming in the form of a layup and two free throws.
- The Green and White trimmed their early deficit to three after Davis got on the board.
- Quinnipiac found their rhythm again before the first quarter horn, leading by seven after ten minutes.
- Mulderig and Kristina Juric put the team back within five after a pair of layups early in the second frame.
- Despite Mulderig getting her point total up to eight, the Bobcats extended their lead back out to double digits before the halftime horn.
- Opening the second half with four more points was Mulderig, quickly followed by a layup from Elisa Solé Sanchez to get the Jaspers back within single digits.
- The Bobcats used the third quarter to establish their foothold, going up by as much as 19 points following a deep shot from Paige Girardi.
- Even with Davis upping her scoring total to 13 before the horn, Manhattan faced an 18 point difference heading into the final ten minutes.
- Hana Mühl connected on a three point shot midway through the frame, part of a 10-4 run to start the quarter.
- Mulderig and Davis collected more points for the stat sheet, but it wasn't enough as Quinnipiac took home an 18 point victory.
STATS AND NOTES
- Graduate forward Colette Mulderig led the way in scoring with 21 points while collecting four rebounds. This is the second 20+ point performance for the Scranton, Pa. native this season, tallying a Division I-high 24 at Niagara (1/10).
- Senior guard Brianna Davis followed closely behind with 17 points of her own, posting three assists and three steals as well. This is Davis' third consecutive contest accumulating at least 17 points.
- Senior guard Hana Mühl spread the ball around the most, collecting five assists.
- Manhattan shot at its best rate in the third quarter, with a 54% clip.
