RIVERDALE, NY – Manhattan Women's Basketball Head Coach Heather Vulin has named senior guards Hana Muhl and Alyssa Costigan captains for the 2025-26 season on Thursday morning.
"Alyssa and Hana have been incredible teammates, leaders, and representatives of our women's basketball program since they stepped foot on campus." described Vulin.
"We are excited they were voted by their teammates and coaches to be this year's captains. Both have invested in their teammates and are active participants in our campus community."
Muhl, the Senior guard from Zagreb, Croatia is set to become team captain after appearing in 28 games in her first campaign in Riverdale. The former Ball State student-athlete averaged 29 minutes on the floor in 2024-25, while converting 37.5 percent from the field.
"Being named captain my senior year is an honor," said Muhl.
"I am proud to lead my team this year, give everything I have, and help us reach our full potential. More than anything, I just want us to enjoy every moment together on and off the court."
Additionally, Muhl netted 21 three-pointers from distance, while sinking 40 free-throws in 48 total attempts. Muhl logged 181 total points, while averaging 6.5 per game.
Costigan, the Junior guard hailing from Herndon, VA has appeared in a combined 23 games over the last two seasons, where she logged 42 minutes in 2024, adding six points and three points vs. LIU.
"Being named captain means a lot to me and is a big honor," said Costigan. "With this being my fourth year, I have had the privilege of having upperclassmen teammates that were great leaders and role models to me, and I hope to continue to carry on and continue that big sister legacy and team culture that was instilled in me over the years."
"A well-deserved acknowledgement by two proven winners," described Vulin.
