Women's Basketball Finishes Navy Classic Against Liberty

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's basketball team (0-7), in the final game of the 32nd annual Navy Classic, fell to the Flames of Liberty University (5-2) by a final score of 68-56 inside the neutral site of Alumni Hall on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Agar Farrés Garcia got the scoring started for the second game in a row, driving down the baseline after Hana Mühl kicked it out to her in te corner.
  • Mühl blew past the defense following Brianna Davis' steal to give the Jaspers an early four point advantage.
  • Kristina Juric and Celeste Harper tacked on points of their own midway through the frame.
  • Liberty finished the quarter on a 10-0 run, putting them up six by the horn.
  • Alyssa Costigan tallied the first points of her 2025-26 campaign off a shot beyond the arc to get the game back within single digits.
  • Davis added the final Manhattan score of the half as Liberty extended their lead to 20 at the break.
  • Two three point plays came in the early stages of the third, as Mühl converted on all three opportunities she got from the stripe, quickly followed by Davis extending out her range behind the line.
  • Tatianna Collins scored all six of her third quarter points in the paint, with fellow freshman Johlana Tatum cashing in from the free throw line with under a minute to play.
  • The fourth quarter proved to be the most dominant for the Green and White, with the visitors winning by ten.
  • Elisa Solé Sanchez grabbed a three of her own after Costigan took advantage of her and-one layup.
  • Tatum got the Jaspers within single digits, and another outside bucket from Solé Sanchez put Manhattan within six, their lowest deficit of the second half.
  • Playing safe and knocking down their free throws, Liberty pulled away by a double digit margin once the final buzzer sounded.

STATS AND NOTES

  • Senior guard Brianna Davis led the way in scoring with 10 points, the only Jasper in double figures. Davis was also named to the All-Navy Classic Team.
  • Freshman forward Tatianna Collins pulled down the most rebounds at seven, four of them coming on the offensive end.
  • Junior guard Alyssa Costigan accumulated her first points of the 2025-26 season, scoring five with two made field goals.
  • Freshman guard Johlana Tatum set a new season-high with five points, beating her four scored at Minnesota on 11/7.
  • Manhattan shot at its best rate in the opening quarter, with a 42% clip.
