LOS ANGELES – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Basketball team (1-1) fell to the Trojans of USC (2-0) by a score of 114-83 inside the Galen Center on Sunday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers were back in the Golden State for the first time in nearly a decade, after facing Saint Mary's College in 2015.
- Facing the Trojans for the first time in program history were the Green and White, and getting things started for Manhattan was Fraser Roxburgh on an early jumper.
- After trailing by five, the Green and White were poised to bounce back off the back of Jaden Winston, who drove to the basket for his first points of the night.
- Back-and-forth sequences for both USC and Manhattan allowed Anthony Isaac to capitalize on a slew of Trojan turnovers, tying the game at 11.
- Keeping things close were the Jaspers, who responded to a Marsh three with a Terrance Jones three to flip the script back in their favor.
- On another turnover by USC, Jones took full advantage of the steal and took it to the basket himself to give the Jaspers their first lead of the game.
- The Trojans found their footing after the under-eight timeout and put together a double-digit run before Marko Ljubicic stopped the bleeding with under three minutes in the half.
- Opening the second half for the Jaspers was Jaden Winston with a jump shot, before he took advantage of a Trojan turnover and foul to tack on an additional two points.
- Midway through the second half, Winston continued his career afternoon, with a booming triple to leap over the 50-point threshold.
- Off a Ljubicic steal, Quron Elliott found some room in the near corner to sink his first collegiate triple from distance.
- Down the stretch of the game, it was Terrance Jones who added a pair of triples, before Winston, again, found the basket for an additional two.
