FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (6-5-5, 5-4-1 MAAC) dropped its conference contest Saturday afternoon against the Stags from Fairfield University (13-1-2, 8-0-2 MAAC) by a final score of 4-2 at Lessing Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- As the first shot on goal, Olivia McMaster got the party started with a shot off her knee, coming from an Amaya Hill cross in the seventh minute.
- Successfully defending two shots from Fairfield shortly after, the pursuit proved to be too much as Kayleigh Lukasik knotted up the score in the 17th.
- The Stags continued to put on offensive pressure, finally paying off with another score just past the first half hour.
- With minimal chances for the Jaspers down the first half stretch, the home squad was able to capitalize on another opportunity before the halftime break in the 41st.
- McMaster and Marlene Berlinghoff both put together on-target looks early in the latter half, saved by Fairfield's Katie Wright.
- Following a fourth Stag goal, McMaster once again took a pass from Hill in the 68th minute, cutting the Jasper deficit in half at 4-2.
- While Samantha D'Angelo got one last look against Wright, an unsuccessful conversion was the last event of note in the Fairfield victory.
