Brunk Secures Third Straight Shutout as Women's Soccer Draws With Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (5-4-5, 4-3-1 MAAC) went home with a draw in its conference contest Saturday afternoon against the Broncs from Rider University (2-6-6, 0-4-4 MAAC) in a scoreless affair of 0-0 at Ben Cohen Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mary Trudeau registered an early shot in the first ten minutes, glancing just high.
  • Midway through the first half, Olivia McMaster and Samantha Setteducato combined for three shots on target, saved by Rider's Ashley Moore.
  • Scarlett Smith created some pressure towards the end of the first half, but the score remained knotted heading into the halftime break.
  • After an early Rider yellow card in the second set of 45, Manhattan stayed quiet until the 65th and 73rd minute when Samantha D'Angelo forced another pair of Bronc saves.
  • Molly Brunk grabbed a key save with just over seven minutes to play after a Rider free kick.
  • Despite McMaster attempting to recreate her offensive magic from earlier this week, two shots on goal in the final ten minutes wasn't enough to get the Green and White on the board before the final horn.
STATS AND NOTES
  • Manhattan controlled the offensive side of the game, winning the shot battle 13-4, with seven shots on goal.
  • The Jaspers tallied five corner opportunities to the Broncs' two.
  • Junior midfielder Olivia McMaster accumulated the most offensive pressures for Manhattan with six shots.
  • Junior goalkeeper Molly Brunk secured a fifth shutout in her last six matches, including three consecutive.
