LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Soccer team (1-5-2, 0-1-1 MAAC) settled for a 1-1 draw against the Broncs of Rider University (1-7-2, 0-2-1 MAAC) inside Ben Cohen Field on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking to get back in the win column were the Green and White in its first fixture in nearly two weeks, had the Jaspers finding its rhythm early.
- Just 12 minutes in off a Rider throw, William Fagerberg intercepted the throw and immediately found the back of the net at the top of the box. The Jaspers were off and running minutes into the match.
- The match remained in favor of Manhattan for nearly an additional 65 minutes, before Rider's seamless passing was successful in the box to find the back of the net beyond the reach of Ludvig Malberg
- Throughout the fixture, physicality was traded between both squads, before a straight red card was shown to Ibrahima Keita off a denied scoring opportunity, just minutes after the equalizer was shown on the scoreboard.
- Down the stretch of the match, the Jaspers put together one final push with three shots on target, which were all saved by the Broncs keeper to settle for the draw.
STATS AND NOTES
- Sophomore midfielder William Fagerberg paced the Green and White with its lone marker of the night on four shots on goal. The Incarnate Word transfer logged 77 minutes on the pitch.
- Graduate forward Henry Hamilton registered two shots with one target in a full 90 minutes of game action.
- Sophomore defender Santiago Tarra added one shot on target in 75 minutes.
