Riverdale, N.Y. — Claudia Jiménez has signed with the women's basketball program, head coach Heather Vulin announced. Since 2020, Jiménez has played with CBS Femenino in the second division of professional basketball in Spain.
"We are thrilled to have Claudia join our Jasper family this upcoming season," said Vulin. "We were looking for someone who could help us get better, who could make shots, and who could defend at a high level. Claudia checks all three boxes."
The 5'8 freshman guard shot 39 percent from three in 25 games at CBS Feminino. Jiménez has also amassed four years of playing experience for the Andalusian National Team and led them to become champions of Spain one year and runner-ups another year. Other playing experiences include Dos Hermanas (2012-2019) and Nautico Sevilla (2019-2020). Additionally, Jiménez trained with the Spanish National Team in the U12 and U16 age groups.
"I have always wanted to play Division One basketball in the United States," said Jimenez, who attended high school at Highlands School in Sevilla. "I have worked hard for many years to be able to fulfill this dream."
"Her previous experience of playing in the highly regarded LF2 Spanish League will help her come in right away and contribute immediately," Vulin said.
Her father, Julián Jiménez, and mother, María Auxiliadora Romero, both played basketball and are now coaches.
The addition of Jiménez officially completes the roster for the 2024-2025 season.
