Manhattan lands William Sydnor out of The Patrick School (NJ)

Manhattan head coach John Gallagher is pleased to announce the addition of William Sydnor as part of the 2024 recruiting class. Sydnor announced his commitment to Manhattan with a post on his Instagram page.

"He's a prolific scorer who is long and athletic," Gallagher says about Sydnor. "He's one of those guys late in the shot clock who can get his own basket."

Sydnor is a 6'8 forward who joins the Jaspers from The Patrick School (NJ). Given his size and skill, Sydnor was able to pose a mismatch for opponents on his way to averaging 15 points per game this past season. He played two seasons for The Patrick School and before that spent one season at Our Saviour Lutheran School in the Bronx, where he originally grew up. The Patrick School—formerly known as St. Patrick High School—has produced talents such as Kyrie Irving, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Corey Fisher, Shaheen Holloway and Adama Sanogo among many others. An alum of the Rising Stars New York AAU program, Sydnor opted to take his talents to Riverdale over a plethora of other schools such as Seton Hall and Iona.

Gallagher is excited about the versatility of Sydnor, who was a known commodity on the recruiting trail for his ability to score but has also separated himself by guarding multiple positions defensively.

"His length from the defensive side of the floor is really exciting to me," Gallagher said. "He's a great piece for us to get and an exciting addition in Riverdale."

Sydnor is a seamless fit for a Manhattan program that continues its rebuild into a MAAC contender under Gallagher. He is the first high school recruit announced for the class of 2024.
