Jaspers Fall to Marist

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan women's lacrosse falls to Marist this afternoon after a fourth-quarter rally.

After going scoreless in the first quarter, the Jaspers rallied in the second half, outscoring the Red Foxes 6-2, with the onslaught of goals coming in the final minutes of play. 

After allowing 10 unanswered goals in the first half, Julianna Iovine ended the Jaspers' drought with a free-position goal with six minutes remaining in the half. 

The Jaspers rallied in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, scoring five unanswered goals. Shouting from the sidelines, "Get to ten," assistant coach Ryan Wheeler pushed the Jaspers to try to cut down the Red Foxes' lead before the final horn. 

Ava Fernandes and Iovine scored two goals in this five-goal run. 

The Jaspers' two top performers this afternoon were Iovine with four goals and Fernandes with three. Andrea Liotta picked up eight draw controls and scored one goal off a free position shot. 

The Jaspers play again later in the week on Wednesday, March 27, at 4 p.m. in Lawrenceville, N.J., against Rider University.
