RIVERDALE, N.Y. — A fun week of Manhattan hoops precipitated two award winners, with Petra Juric (18 ppg) winning MAAC Player of the Week and freshman Will Sydnor (21 ppg) taking Rookie of the Week on the men's side.
Juric ran rampant in leading the Jaspers to a 2-0 week with wins over LIU and Hofstra. She was uber efficient, making 15 of 20 field goal attempts and hitting her first three-pointer since March during the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. Hofstra. Juric, a Preseason All-MAAC Second Team recipient, added a season-high 13 rebounds in the Jaspers' triumph over Hofstra.
Sydnor was an unstoppable force for the Jaspers in their 1-1 week. He posted a career-high 24 points in a 78-76 win over Fordham, coming up with a game-capping dunk to go along with five free throws to ice the game in the final minute. Sydnor's 24 points was the most from a Jasper versus Fordham since Rich Williams' 24-point showing versus the Rams in 2015. Sydnor also produced 17 points vs. Mercy and 22 points vs. FDU.
