Jaspers Volleyball Schedule Unveiled

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - We are less than a month away from the start of the 2023 Manhattan College women's volleyball season. Head coach Mauro Miletic enters his second year with the Jaspers and has unveiled the 2023 fall schedule.

"Our schedule for 2023 is strong, particularly our pre-season tournaments," said Miletic. "By opening our season out west, we have set ourselves up for some tough competition. We believe it's important to challenge ourselves early on in the season so that our team can take time to learn and grow prior to the start of conference play, as we've added ten newcomers and are still in the midst of rebuilding the program. We've also scheduled three mid-week, home non-conference games, so fans can enjoy plenty of volleyball in Draddy this year!"

Manhattan College hosts 12 home games and will be on the road for 14 matches, five of which will be held at a neutral location. For MAAC play, Manhattan hosts nine and is away for nine.

The Jaspers kick off the season on Friday, Aug. 25 at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Weber State in Ogden, Utah. Their first opponent of the invitational is St. Mary's College at 10:00 AM, followed by Weber State at 7:30 PM. The Jaspers finish up the invitational on Saturday, Aug. 26, going up against Utah Tech at 12:30 PM.

The team remains on the road for another tournament, opening up against host St. Francis University on Friday, Sept. 1, at 7:00 PM. The second match of the Red Flash Classic will take place on Saturday, Sept. 2, against Stony Brook at 2:00 PM and Purdue Fort Wayne at 4:30 PM.

After another two-day tournament hosted by Columbia from Sept. 8 through Sept. 9, the Jaspers return home for three games, all being broadcasted on ESPN. The first will be against Central Connecticut State on Sept. 13, Saint Peter's on Sept. 16 which is the MAAC opener, and then Rider on Sept. 17.

A three-game road trip follows the team's home debut, traveling to the Garden State for the first game against NJIT on Sept. 20. The Jaspers then travel to Buffalo to participate in their first MAAC road game of the season with Canisius on Saturday, Sept. 23. That weekend, the Jaspers will also play against Niagara on Sept. 24.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Fairfield Stags come to Riverdale at 3 PM. The following day, Quinnipiac comes to Draddy Gymnasium for a 3 PM contest.

The Jaspers break up some MAAC play with a home game against Stonehill on Oct. 4 at 7 PM in Draddy Gymnasium. They then go on a three-game stretch for a trio of MAAC contests, against Marist on Saturday, Oct. 7, Siena on Oct. 8, and Quinnipiac again on Oct. 11.

The team then returns home for a single match against Iona on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 3 PM.

The Jaspers will then be back on the road for their second-to-last non-conference game of the season, in a rematch against Stonehill, this time in Easton, Mass., at 7 PM.

The following weekend features another pair of matches, both at home. The week opens against Siena on Saturday, Oct. 21, and then closes on Sunday, Oct. 22, against Marist.

The Jaspers then go on their last away stretch of the season, participating in four MAAC conference games. Their first stop is in Lawrenceville, NJ, against Rider on Saturday, Oct. 28, followed by Saint Peter's on Sunday, Oct. 29. The Jaspers then have a two-day break before going up against Fairfield on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and then Iona on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The regular season closes with three home matches: Binghamton, Niagara, and Canisius, before the MAAC Championship, which begins on Nov. 17 in Fairfield, Conn.
