Stores Promoted to Associate Head Coach

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Head Coach Heather Vulin is elated to announce the promotion of Assistant Coach Callan Stores to Associate Head Coach.

"Callan has made an impact on this program since the first day she stepped on campus when I started here at Manhattan College seven years ago," said Coach Vulin. "She was my first hire, and technically my first recruit, to help build this program. Her talent, commitment, work ethic, and basketball acumen have been instrumental in putting us in back-to-back MAAC Championship title games. Callan has literally excelled at everything she has been involved with while being on my staff. She has earned the respect of everyone she has worked with and I'm very grateful to have someone as talented as Callan on my staff. She epitomizes what #playGREEN means on a daily basis."

Stores was recently named to the Silver Waves Media 2023 75 Rising Stars list of Impactful Women's Mid-Major Assistants after spending seven seasons at Manhattan College with Coach Vulin (first year as Director of Basketball Operations and the last six as Assistant Coach).

"I am very grateful to Coach Vulin for her continued belief in me," said Stores. "She has been a mentor beyond mentors, and I have loved being on this journey with her from day one here at Manhattan College. I am really looking forward to growing in my new role and the upcoming season with this team and staff, and of course, to continue to strive towards our goal of winning a MAAC Championship."

Stores has primarily focused on the development of the team's post players, after working with the perimeter guards for two years. Stores mentored former Jasper standout Courtney Warley ('22) into being one of the best players to ever play for the Jaspers. Warley finished her career in Riverdale as a five-time all-league selection and two-time All-Met selection, finishing with 1,295 points (top 10 in program history), 1,206 total rebounds (2nd in program history) and 419 offensive rebounds (1st in program history).

During the last two seasons, Stores has worked with Petra Juric, who was named to the MAAC All-Rookie team in 2022 and had some big performances last year in her sophomore season. In her first three appearances of the 2022-2023 season, Juric was the only player in the country to turn in three consecutive 20-point double-doubles before injuries slowed her down. In the MAAC Championship tournament, Juric recorded two double-doubles and was a big factor in the Jaspers making it back to the title game for the second consecutive season.

As the team's defensive coordinator, the Jaspers were ranked 27th in the nation in rebounding margin and 28th in the nation in total rebounds during the 2022-2023 season. During the 2021-2022 season, the Jaspers were ranked 7th in the nation in rebounding margin and 10th in total rebounds. The Jaspers were the top rebounding team in the MAAC and one of the top defensive teams in the MAAC in both of those seasons.

Stores also serves as the program's international recruiting coordinator and was instrumental in recruiting Juric from Croatia to Riverdale, along with several other international players from Croatia, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Israel for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Prior to joining Coach Vulin's staff, Stores played four seasons of professional basketball in Finland, Spain, Australia, and Portugal after a stellar four-year playing career at Sacred Heart University. During her time at Sacred Heart, Stores became the school's all-time leading rebounder (1,123) and finished second in scoring (1,822) while being named the NEC Player of the Year for the 2011-12 season after averaging 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds that season.

Stores graduated cum laude from Sacred Heart with a degree in exercise science and earned a master's degree in organizational leadership from Manhattan College in 2019. Stores is married to former Jasper men's basketball great RaShawn Stores, and they have a 1-year old daughter, Raylan.
