RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan's last game of the regular season will be played against Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Saturday.
The last time the Jaspers played the Gales was at home in Draddy Gymnasium, where the Jaspers lost 3-0. Despite the loss, the first two sets were close and hard-fought, with the final scores being 25-22 and 28-26. The match started a three-game streak where
Julieanne McKee broke her season-high in assists, dishing out 25.
Iona (16-11) comes into this game off a two-game losing streak after facing Fairfield and Quinnipiac. The Gales were swept by the Stags but were able to take a set from the Bobcats. The last team the Gales beat was Canisius, who they swept 3-0 on Oct. 30.
Manhattan will be coming into this week's matchup also having lost against Quinnipiac and Fairfield. The games were their last two home games of the season. The Jaspers came close to taking a set from the best team in the MAAC, Fairfield, with the third set score being 25-23, closer than Iona was able to get to take a set last week.
The leaders of Manhattan's offense have been
Julia Menocal with 10 kills and
Kelly Markowski with 11 in the match against Quinnipiac. Leading the defense has been Sofia Lotto who has been scoring most of the Jaspers' digs in the past few matches, scoring 12, 11, and 10 in the last three matches.
