Steve Masiello has announced that junior forward
Samba Diallo (Rufisque, Senegal / UMass) has been granted a waiver by the NCAA and will eligible for competition immediately in 2020-21.
"We are very excited about the opportunity Samba has to compete this year," said Masiello. "He brings us immediate experience as well as toughness, and will be a great addition to our program."
Diallo Career Notes:
* Spent his first two collegiate seasons at UMass, and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
* Diallo averaged 6.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last year, while scoring in double-figures 10 times, with three double-doubles.
* Shot 43.1 percent from the floor while playing in all 31 games.
* Scored a career-high 19 points, on 9-of-12 shooting, in win against Saint Joseph's.
* Registered his first career double-double with 11 points with a career-high 14 rebounds at Saint Louis
* Also had double-doubles with with 12 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high six assists in victory against La Salle, before scoring 12 points with 13 rebounds in win over over Duquesne (1/25).
Diallo is the third Jasper to receive a waiver for the upcoming season, joining fellow transfers
Jason Douglas-Stanley (Mount Vernon, NY / George Mason) and
Anthony Nelson (New York, NY / Seton Hall).
