Manhattan-Niagara Game Flexed To ESPNU

Riverdale, NY - Manhattan (8-7; 4-2 MAAC) will host Niagara (6-11, 4-2 MAAC) on Friday, February 7 at 7:00 pm in a match-up that will now air on ESPNU as part of the MAAC Wildcard Game package.

The Purple Eagles and Jaspers, along with Monmouth and Quinnipiac, share a conference-best 4-2 record through the first six games of league play.

Manhattan leads the all-time series 55-33, with head coach Steve Masiello holding a 12-5 mark against Niagara. The two teams met earlier this month, with the Jaspers earning 67-62 road win. Sophomore Tykei Greene (Queens, NY / Long Island Lutheran) leads he eam with 11.2 ppg and 5.9 rpg and was named the MAAC Player of the Week on January 6. Preseason All-MAAC selection senior Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) is averaging 9.1 ppg and 5.9 rpg.

The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU and allows the MAAC and ESPN the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses. Three more contests (Feb. 14, Feb. 21, Feb. 28) will be flexed onto ESPNU. Those matchups will be announced at a later date.

The regular season culminates with the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships in the event's inaugural year at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey from March 10-14.  The Garden State will be home to the MAAC Basketball Championships for the first time since 2003.
