Riverdale, NY - Junior cross country runners
Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) and
Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD / Walt Whitman) have been named the ATAX Manhattan College Student-Athletes of the Week for the period of Monday, October 23 to Sunday, October 29.
Fajardo took third place in the women's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Cross Country Championship race held in Holmdel, NJ on Saturday, October 28. She completed the women's 6,000-meter race with a time of 21:32 and has earned three consecutive top 15 MAAC finishes, placing 12th last year and 13th in 2015. Fajardo led her team to a fourth-place finish overall, up a spot from last year's fifth-place MAAC finish.
Khaghani was the first Manhattan finisher and ninth overall in the men's MAAC Cross Country Championship race, also held October 28 in Holmdel. He completed the 8,000-meter race in 25:48, leading Manhattan College to a second-place overall finish, the team's best result in the league championship since 2004.
