Manhattan To Host Canisius In Wednesday Matinee

After giving MAAC-leading Monmouth all it could handle on Saturday, Manhattan (6-6-1; 4-2-0 MAAC) returns to action this week with matches against Canisius and Fairfield this week.

Canisius at Manhattan– Wednesday, October 11 – 3:00 pm
Manhattan at Fairfield – Saturday, October 14 – 7:00 pm

Tournament Periscope
- Heading into the final two weeks of the season, the Jaspers are tied with Siena for second place in the MAAC with 12 points (4-2) and appeared poised to lock up a top-five spot and a bye for the MAAC Tournament that will contested later this month at Disney.

Last Week
Manhattan went 1-1 last week, besting Saint Peter's by a 3-1 count before dropping a 2-1 nailbiter to Monmouth in West Long Branch.

Leading The Way
After not scoring a goal in the first 11 matches, junior Emma Saul found the back of the net in both matches last week to pace the Jasper offense.

Saul's Second Goal ...
Was the first yielded by Monmouth in MAAC play this year and was the first allowed by the Hawks in 605:55, or a span of six-plus matches.

Modena & Montefusco
Senior Erica Modena and sophomore Arianna Montefusco also assisted on Saul's goal at Monmouth and are tied for the team lead with 12 points (6th MAAC).

Three's Company
The trio of Modena, Saul and Montefusco have combined for 11 of Manhattan's 20 goals and 11 of the Jaspers' 17 assists. 

Game-Winning Gemma
Freshman Gemma Perez's second goal of the year against Saint Peter's this past Wednesday would prove to be the game winner.

That's A Lot
Saul became the 11th different Manhattan player to score a goal this year ... Additionally, five other Jaspers have also recorded points.

Manhattan will open play this week against Canisius and will look to continue a recent series trend that has seen the home team capture each of the last four match-ups.

Gretta Dry converted a penalty kick to lead the Golden Griffins to a 1-0 win in the teams' most recent match-up.

The Series
Canisius leads the all-time series by 14-9-2 count with Manhattan holding the slight 6-5-1 advantage when playing in Riverdale.

The Last Win ... 
For the Jaspers in the season series came by a 4-0 count in the 2015 MAAC opener. Modena scored twice while Saul and junior Nicole Copping each notched their first collegiate goals.

Modena and Canisius senior Taylor Kugler were teammates at Massapequa High School. 

Scouting Canisius
The Golden Griffins hold a 7-6-1 record (2-4-1 MAAC) and are led by the sophomore duo of Madeline Beaulieu (2 goals, 3 assists) and Gretta Dry (2 goals, 2 assists). Alana Rossi has been solid in goal to the tune of a 1.01 GAA and a .794 save percentage.

Saturday In The Park
Manhattan will travel to Fairfield in search of its first-ever road victory against the Stags on Saturday, October 14 at 7:00 pm.

That the Jaspers' last win in the state of Connecticut came two years ago on October 14 at Quinnipiac by a 1-0 score?

Last Year
Manhattan snapped a 13-match winless streak (0-9-4) to Fairfield with a 1-0 victory thanks to a Dylan Burns goal with Montefusco being credited with the assist. Sophomore Olivia Printy also made eight saves in collecting the shutout win.

The Series
The Stags lead the all-time series by a 22-3--5 count, including going 12-0-1 when playing in Fairfield.

Two Years Ago ...
The Jaspers earned a 1-1 draw in Connecticut thanks to a Modena goal off a pass from Copping.
