Manhattan Announces 2010-2011 Men's Basketball Schedule

2010-2011 Men's Basketball Schedule

RIVERDALE
, N.Y. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference released its 2010-2011 men's basketball schedules on Friday afternoon completing the Jaspers' 30-game slate. Manhattan will begin its 18-game conference schedule in Riverdale on Dec. 2 when the Jaspers host Rider. The league's television schedule was not released.

Manhattan's longest home stretch of its 13 games in Riverdale comes during a 17-day span in January with the Jaspers playing five of six games at Draddy Gymnasium. Their longest road series is late in the year when the Green & White finish out the regular-season with seven of 10 games away from home.

The Jaspers open the campaign on Nov. 13 at NJIT, before returning to Riverdale for a pair of non-conference contests with Penn (Nov. 17) and Long Island (Nov. 20). Manhattan will spend Thanksgiving weekend in Orlando, Fla. as part of the eight team Old Spice Classic field. At least two of the Jaspers three games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will be televised nationally. Manhattan plays Wisconsin on ESPN2 Thanksgiving Day, and then will meet either Boston College or Texas A&M on Friday afternoon.

Manhattan returns from the Sunshine State to enjoy its next five games in the metropolitan area. After hosting Rider (Dec. 2) for its MAAC opener, Manhattan travels to Saint Peter's two days later. The 103rd "Battle of the Bronx" is set for Dec. 8 when the Jaspers travel to Fordham. Manhattan plays host to Binghamton (Dec. 11) and Hofstra (Dec. 18) on consecutive Saturdays in Riverdale.

The Jaspers are on the road for the last two games before the New Year. Manhattan travels to Ohio for a meeting with Bowling Green (Dec. 22) and visits Boca Raton, Fla. to play Florida Atlantic (Dec. 30).

Manhattan plays at Rider on Jan. 3, before returning to Riverdale for its longest homestand of the season playing four consecutive games against Loyola (Jan. 7), Marist (Jan. 9), Canisius (Jan. 15) and Niagara (Jan. 17). The Jaspers travel to Baltimore on Jan. 20 to return the game with Loyola, but are quick to come back home to play Saint Peter's (Jan. 23).

The Jaspers will not see Fairfield, Siena or Iona until late in the season when they play each team twice over a 20 day duration. Manhattan gets three straight games at home over seven days with the Stags (Feb. 11), Saints (Feb. 13) and Gaels (Feb. 16), before traveling to its ESPN Bracketbuster destination on Feb. 19.

Manhattan has one last chance to tune up before the MAAC Tournament when it wraps up the regular-season in Western New York at Canisius (Feb. 25) and Niagara (Feb. 27).

The 2010 MAAC Basketball Championships return to the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn. after a four year hiatus. The tournament will run from March 4-7.
