Riverdale, NY (January 15, 2008) ? Manhattan Men's Lacrosse Coach Tim McIntee announces the signing of 14 Student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to play Lacrosse at Manhattan College beginning with the 2008-09 academic year.
“I am very excited these young men have decided to attend Manhattan College,” said McIntee. “Not only have we added a high level of athleticism but we're also adding quality people to the program. This group of student-athletes adds a great deal of talent to all four positions in the game ? attack, midfield, defense and goalie.”
Brendan Rogers ? Attack ? Northport High School
Brendan Rogers is a 5-11, 170 pound attackman from East Northport, NY. He is a two sport athlete excelling in Lacrosse and Basketball. Rogers is a two year starter in lacrosse who finished his junior year with 15 goals and 14 assists. Rogers is an Honor roll student throughout High School. He will pursue a Business Degree at Manhattan.
Bryan Hall ? Attack ? Levittown Division High School
Bryan Hall is a 5-9, 175 pound attackman from Levittown, NY. Bryan is a three sport athlete and a senior captain in Football, Basketball and Lacrosse. Hall is a four year starter in lacrosse earning All Conference, Academic All Conference and All County awards. Hall was recently selected as a scholar athlete for the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. Hall is a member of the National Foreign Honor Society. At Manhattan Bryan will major in Exercise Science.
Zach Nisson ? Attack ? Stevenson High School
Zach Nisson is a 5-11, 180 pound attackman from Long Grove, IL. Zach is a two sport athlete excelling in Lacrosse and Hockey. Zach is a four year starter in Lacrosse and leading scorer, All Conference in both, Lacrosse and Hockey. Zach is ranked 2nd in points totaled in the state of Illinois. He is a member of the prestigious travel team, team Illinois. Zach was selected Team Captain in his Senior campaign. Zach will major in Education at Manhattan.
Joe Lenihan ? Midfield ? West Hampton High School
Joe Lenihan is a 6-0, 170 pound, midfielder from East Quogue, NY. Lenihan is a two sport athlete playing both Lacrosse and Football. Joe is a 5 year starter on the lacrosse team. He is an All Division award winner in both sports. Joe was team MVP for the 06-07 Lacrosse season and unsung hero award winner in 03-04. Joe was chosen to play in the All Long Island football game. Lenihan will pursue an Education Degree at Manhattan.
Jordan Sherman ? Midfield ? Christian Brothers Academy (Albany, NY)
Jordan Sherman is a 6-1, 185 pound, midfielder from Ravena, NY. Jordan is a three sport athlete and co-captain of each sport, Lacrosse, Football and Basketball. He is a four year starter in Lacrosse, named to the Big Ten All Star First Team, selected to represent the Adirondack Lacrosse Team in the Empire State Games in 2007. Jordan received “the Junior Athletic Award” at CBA in 2007, awarded to the most athletic student in his junior class. In football he received First team All Conference and the “All Purpose Player Award.” He also received Military rank of Lieutenant Colonel for his senior year. Jordan is a member of the National Honor Society 2003-07. Jordan intends to pursue a degree in Engineering at Manhattan.
Chris Spillane ? Midfielder ? Carey High School
Chris Spillane is a 6-0, 190 pound midfielder from Franklin Square, NY. Chris is a two sport athlete excelling in Lacrosse and Football. He is a four year starter on the varsity Lacrosse Team, a two year captain and has over 100 career points, including 70 points as a junior (33g, 37a). He was an All Conference and All County player in his 2007 season. In football he was an All Conference wide receiver/tight-end and was a co-captain. Chris is a member of the National Honor Society and he will be majoring in Psychology at Manhattan.
Tyler Sabens ? Midfielder ? Falmouth High School
Tyler Sabens is a 5-9, 175 pound midfielder from North Falmouth, MA. Tyler is a three sport athlete playing Lacrosse, Hockey and Football. He is an All Conference first team all star in Lacrosse and Hockey, a four year varsity lacrosse player and two time co-captain. He was selected to play for the New England Select U-19 All Star Team and the Cape Cod Times All Cape Team. He was an EMASS Lacrosse All Star in 2007. Tyler is a five year varsity Hockey player and two year co-captain. He was selected to the Atlantic coast League All Star Team in 2007. Tyler is an Honor Roll student who will pursue a Business degree at Manhattan.
Jonathan Bourne ? Midfielder ? Christian Brothers Academy (Albany, NY)
Jonathan Bourne is a 5-10, 170 pound midfielder from Loudonville, NY. Bourne is a two year starter for CBA and was an honorable mention Big Ten midfielder in 2007. Bourne led his team to the Section II Quarter finals and the Big Ten Championship. He was a member of the 2007 Adirondack Empire State Team and was selected as a Blue Chip 225 All Star. Bourne, an Honors student throughout high school, will major in Communications at Manhattan College.
Adam Vorwald ? Midfielder ? Ward Melville High School
Adam Vorwald is a 6-0, 170 pound midfielder from South Setauket, NY. Adam plays both attack and midfield. He is a two year starter for Ward Melville he led his team to the Suffolk County Championship Game. Adam is a finalist for the National Hispanic Recognition Award and a National Ventures Scholar. He is a National Honors Society member from 2004-08. Adam will pursue a degree in Engineering / Science at Manhattan.
Michael Brooks - Defense - Loyola Blakefield
Michael Brooks is a 5-11, 175 pound defenseman from Lutherville/Timonium, MD.
He is a two-sport athlete excelling in both Lacrosse and Hockey. In Lacrosse Brooks was selected to the Under Armour All Star Team in 2007. He led the #2 Nationally ranked high school team to the MIAA class "A" conference championship and remains one of the team's leaders in ground balls in each of the past three seasons. Mike is a two-time captain and four year starter of the Hockey team. He was selected to the MIAA All Conference Hockey Team. Mike will major in Business at Manhattan.
Kyle Moeller - Defense - Ward Melville High School
Kyle Moeller is a 6-1, 185 pound defenseman from South Setauket, NY. Kyle is a two-sport athlete playing Lacrosse and Hockey. In lacrosse Kyle is a three-year starter and All Conference selection in 2007. He was selected to play in two prestigious All Star games over the summer at Top 205 and Hot-Beds camps. In Hockey Kyle is a two-year Canadian Elite Prospect, a member of the Under 16 team, and captain of the Select Team. Kyle is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and will pursue a degree in Business / Engineering.
Stephen Harvey - Defense - Ramapo High School
Stephen Harvey is a 6-1, 195 pound defenseman from Wyckoff, NJ. Harvey is a two-sport athlete. He is a three year starter in lacrosse, first team NBIL defenseman in his junior year, brought his team to county and state Championship games in Sophomore and Junior seasons, and is a senior captain of the Ramapo Varsity Lacrosse Team. In football Steve is a two-year letter winner playing linebacker & tight-end, and he represented his team as a co-captain in his senior season. Stephen is a member of the National Honor Society and he will major in Education at Manhattan.
Sean Davern - Defense - Irondequoit High School
Sean Davern is a 5-10, 175 pound defenseman from Rochester, NY. Sean is a three-year starter on the Varsity Lacrosse Team. He was an All Conference, All County selection in his Junior season, selected for the All Tournament Team Section Five in 2007, a member of the 2007 Western Empire Team and was selected to the prestigious Top 205 All Star Team over the summer. Sean will major in Business at Manhattan.
Troy Orzech - Goalie - Regis Jesuit High School
Troy Orzech is a 6-0, 180 pound goaltender from Franktown, CO. Troy is an All Conference, All City and All State Goaltender for Regis High School. He is a three- year starter and senior co-captain of the team. In his junior year his save percentage was 73% with 145 saves and he scored 2 goals. He is an Academic All State Award winner and Honor Roll Student. Troy will major in Business at Manhattan.
