GREEN RECOGNIZED AS MAAC MEN'S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Riverdale, N.Y. (December 24, 2007)- Manhattan College freshman guard Rashad Green was named MAAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 23, it was announced today by the conference office.  This marks the second straight week and the third time in the last four weeks that the MAAC has recognized Green with a weekly honor.

Green tallied a team-high 15 points to help lead Manhattan to an 80-79 win over Pepperdine University on Friday, December 21.  The North Babylon, N.Y. native added seven rebounds, two steals, and one assists.

The guard has reached double-figures in scoring in four of the last six games, raising his scoring average from 4.2 to 8.9 points per contest.  He has also hit the boards hard over the same stretch, upping his rebounding average from 1.6 to 4.1 caroms per game

On the season, in addition to his 8.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, Green adds 1.2 assists and 1.1 steals, shooting 46.3% from the floor and 88.2% from the line.

The Jaspers (7-4, 1-1 MAAC) get back in action on Saturday, December 29, traveling to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Big East member Rutgers University.  The game is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be televised on SportsNet New York (SNY).
