Riverdale, N.Y. (November 20, 2006)- Manhattan College junior forward/center Arturo Dubois was named MAAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 19, it was announced today by the conference office. This marks the first time that the MAAC has recognized Dubois with a weekly honor.
The First Team Preseason All-MAAC pick averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in leading the Jaspers to wins over Wagner and preseason CAA favorite Hofstra. The junior tallied 13 of his 21 points in the second half in Manhattan's win over Wagner, then backed up that performance with a 23 point, seven rebound performance in the Jaspers' upset win over the Pride, the #3 team in the CollegeInsider.com mid-major poll.
On the season, Dubois is leading the Jaspers in scoring (19.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg), numbers that rank him second and ninth in the MAAC, respectively.
Manhattan is currently 2-1 and will play twice this week, hosting Princeton University at Draddy Gym on Wednesday, November 22 and welcoming Boston University to Riverdale on Saturday, November 25. Both games are slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
