MEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS ONE TO CLASS OF 2008

Riverdale, NY (April 19, 2004)- Arturo Dubois (Harlem, NY/Rice) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Manhattan College beginning in the 2004-05 academic year, it was announced today by fifth-year head coach Bobby Gonzalez. Dubois joins Jeff Xavier (Pawtucket, RI/St. Raphael Academy) and C.J. Lee (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), who signed National Letters of Intent in the Fall, as part of the class of 2008.

Dubois, a 6-8, 235 pound forward, averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks a game this season. His Rice High School team advanced to the CHSAA Semifinals and finished the season with a 22-6 record. He was also named Second Team CHSAA All-City and to the Stop-DWI Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team. Dubois and current Jasper Jason Wingate were teammates when Rice won the New York State Federation Championship in 2001-02.

"We are very excited about the signing of Arturo Dubois," commented Gonzalez. "His signing keeps our tradition of keeping the best New York City players in the city, and also continues our tradition of signing players from great city programs like Rice. We believe that Dubois can make a major impact as a freshman, as we try to replace a talented and experienced senior class."

Manhattan ended its season with a 25-6 record after advancing to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament following a 75-60 win over fifth-seeded Florida. The Jaspers gained an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning their second straight MAAC Tournament Championship. Manhattan also won its second straight MAAC Regular Season Championship after posting a 16-2 conference slate. The 16 wins were the most since the MAAC expanded to an 18 game regular season.
