Serra Sangar (Istanbul, Turkey) had a game-high 19 points for Manhattan, which sees its winning streak halted at three games.
Dartmouth held an early lead in the first half, but Manhattan cut the deficit to a single point (20-19) on a jumper by Sangar. However, the Big Green responded with a 12-2 run capped by a jumper by Cullen. Dartmouth would go into halftime with a 34-23 lead, having shot 55.6% (10-18) from the field while Manhattan shot 24.1% (7-29).
Dartmouth jumped out to a 44-27 lead, its largest of the game, on a three-pointer by Angie Soriaga, who hit 3-4 from downtown for 13 points in the game. Manhattan battled back, getting to within single digits on a long ball by freshman
Gabrielle Cottrell (Arlington Heights, IL/Prospect), which made the score 56-47 with 6:29 remaining. But Dartmouth held Manhattan to five points down the stretch and captured the victory, improving to 2-3, while Manhattan's record is now 4-2.
Freshman forward Cailtin Flood (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional) joined Sangar in double figures with 10 points, while sophomore forward
Michelle Bernal-Silva (Boonton Township, NJ/Mountain Lakes) grabbed nine rebounds for the Lady Jaspers. Manhattan totaled 16 offensive rebounds for the game, but was outrebounded 38-31 overall, as they took 23 more shots than Dartmouth.
The Lady Jaspers return to action on Friday, December 17, when they will continue their pre-Christmas homestand against Fresno State in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Game time at Draddy Gymnasium is 7:00 p.m.
