Mike Konovelchick (Litchfield, NH) has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 5, conference officials announced today.
Konovelchick sparkled in Manhattan's 81-73 victory over conference rival Marist last Saturday in front of a nationally-televised audience. It was Manhattan's first victory at the McCann Center since the 1992-93 season. Konovelchick scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed six rebounds in the victory. He also hit all six foul shots and collected two assists and two blocks.
A starter in five of Manhattan's 11 games, Konovelchick is currently fifth on the squad in scoring at 7.5 points per game and is averaging 3.6 rebounds per game. He is also second on the team in three-point field goal percentage, hitting 34.3 percent of his shots from behind the arc.
Manhattan (8-3, 2-1) is currently riding a four-game winning streak and looks to make it five in a row tomorrow night hosting MAAC foe Siena at 7:00 PM in Draddy Gymnasium.
