Joining head coach Tim McIntee's staff for the 2006-07 academic year is assistant coach and Long Island native JP Brazel.

Brazel, who will be working primarily with the offense and goalies under McIntee, comes to the program after serving as an assistant coach at Nassau Community College for the past four seasons. While at Nassau, Brazel was responsible for the development of the team's goaltenders and defense. He also helped in the coordination of the team's recruiting efforts.

In addition to beginning his coaching career at Nassau, Brazel started his collegiate playing career at Nassau before moving onto Hofstra University.

Brazel, who currently resides in Levittown, N.Y., was a member of several successful teams during his playing days on Long Island. In 1999, Brazel earned All-American honors as a goaltender and helped Nassau to an NJCAA Championship title. Following his achievements at Nassau, he moved onto Hofstra to play under John Danowski. While competing for the Pride, Brazel was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams in 2000 and 2001. The former standout goalie began his scholastic lacrosse career at Levittown's MacArthur High School, where he played under Paul Jones.

While at Manhattan, Brazel is also pursuing his master's degree and New York State Certification in counseling.
