A 1975 Manhattan graduate, Wood served as team captain during his senior year.
 
During his first year at Manhattan, Wood took over a program with veteran talent and made an immediate impact. The Jaspers would win two team titles, the Susquehanna Invitational and the Southern Pines Invitational. His squad would also set numerous records, including lowest one-day team performance in a non-conference tournament (296 at the CCSU Fall Invitational). Manhattan would also have an impressive showing at the MAAC Championships at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course with a 10th place finish, while junior Matt Creamer placed seventh.
 
An accomplished player, Wood finished in the top 10 at the 2010 Long Island Senior Open and reached the semifinals of the 2009 Havermeyer Senior Invitational. He has also qualified for the Long Island Amateur and Travis Golf Tournament. A member of both the Huntington Country Club and Garden City Golf Club, Wood set a record at Huntington by qualifying for the club championship 36 years in a row, winning it once. In addition, he received Huntington’s first caddy scholarship in 1971 and chaired the scholarship committee.
 
Wood graduated Magna Cum Laude from Manhattan with a degree in accounting. As a senior, he received the Jasper Award, which goes to the graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. He received an MBA in finance from New York University in 1980. Wood as worked at Morgan Stanley for over 30 years.
