CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Manhattan men's and women's track & field teams battled rainy conditions in South Florida as it wrapped up competition at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Miami.

"We competed well today despite the weather conditions. It was a good outing for the team against top competition. I'm looking forward to taking what we learned today and improving for our next meet," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Kerri Inman.

The women's 4x100 meter relay team of ] Martina Martinez, Thea Bakken, Lauren Chappell, and Isabella Sing placed fifth in a time of 49.73. The same quartet competed in the 4x400-meter relay collecting a time of 4:05.30 for seventh place.Â

In the 100-meter hurdles, Lauren Chappell raced to a time of 15.41 and Isabella Sing recorded a time of 15.43. In the 400-meter hurdles, Martinez registered a time of 1:04.10.

Thea Bakken registered a time of 1:00.09 in the 400 meters and 27.02 in the 200 meters.

Andria Scaglione recorded a time 9:42.46 in the 3,000 meters to win the event. She started the race in first and never relinquished the lead. Her sister, Nicola Scaglione placed third in 10:25.47, while Kylie Conroy was fourth in 10:58.28.

Kristin Stickdorn recorded a third pace finish in the women's hammer throw after a toss of 60.19 meters (197-5) on her fifth attempt. Mary Gill's toss of 55.72 meters (182-10) was good enough for a sixth-place showing. Stickdorn placed fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 44.72 meters (146-9).

Chappell competed in the javelin throw registering a throw of 26.42 meters (86-8).

Jared Lautenslager raced to a time of 3:54 in the 1,500 meters for the photo finish first-place showing. He outraced second place by .43 seconds, going from third to first in the final 400 meters.

Noah placed sixth with a time of 48.13 in the 400 meters. Darion Lopez competed in the 100 meters, recording a time of 10.68. Lopez came back for the 200 metere where he placed sixth in a time of 21.18. Jefferson registered a time of 21.99 and Brian Oduor ran a time of 23.34.

In the men's javelin throw, Lewis Forster took sixth with a launch of 57.44 meters (188-5); a mark he recorded on his third and fourth attempts.

Alex Kristeller registered a mark of 65.44 meters (214-8) in the event for third place. RJ Decker's throw of 65.22 meters (214-0) placed him fourth overall in the event.

In the discus throw, Kristeller recorded a distance of 41.66 meters (136-8) for seventh place.
