NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Manhattan men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Metropolitan Championship.
"Mets is always a great chance to test our team readiness against good competition as we get closer to MAACs," said Director of Cross Country, Track and Field, Kerri Inman "We were very happy with the teams' effort today."
For the women, Manhattan College got the top three spots in the 5000-meter run. Andria Scaglione defended her crown as she captured first place with a time of 17:52.69. Kylie Conroy was second with a time of 17:52.98 and Nicola Scaglione finished third with a time of 17:59.24. In the 60m hurdles, Lauren Chappell recorded a time of 9.43, while Bella Sing followed with a time of 9.64 and Makayla Dorvil at 9.87. Margaret Pappas ran the mile run and finished with a personal record of 5:26.37. Martina Martinez finished the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.93. Anne Niger ran the 500m with a time of 1:34.10. In the 800m run, Julia Hendricks recorded a time of 2:23.26 and Elaina Batista at 2:32.88.
In the 1,000 meters, Bailee Christofis and Anne Hagan registered times of 3:13.94 and 3:26.82. In the 200m dash, Martina Martinez crossed the finish line at 27.46. In the 3,000 meters, Andria Scaglione placed second with a time of 41:48, Kylie Conroy came in third with a time of 40.97, and Bella Cannizzo at 41.82. In the distance medley relay, Manhattan placed fifth with a time of 13:10, and for the 4x800m relay 10:26.98. In the 4x400 relay, the Jaspers placed third with a time of 4:18.63.
For the long jump, Bella Sing placed fifth and recorded a distance of 5.35m, while Skye Lehr finished with a mark of 4.87m. For the triple jump, Makayla Dorvil finished with a distance of 10.57m. In the high jump, Lauren Chappell cleared a height of 1.50 meters.
For the weight throw, Kristin Stickdorn finished in first place with a measurement of 17.53 meters and second in the shot put with 13.10m. Alexandra Caraher and Mary Gill also competed in the shot put. Caraher was in second place at 16.78m, and Mary Gill recorded a final throw of 16.72m.
For the men, Darion Lopez won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.93 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33. Alex Kristeller captured first place in the shot put finishing with 14.55m, Peter Athanailos was third at 13.79m, and Myron Corpuz had a distance of 13.17m. Kristeller also won the weight throw with a throw of 20.48m and Robert Decker came in second place with 19.52m. In the high jump, Ivan Lytovchenko finished in second place with 1.94m.
Jaxon Newton finished in second place with a mark of 15:02.05, and Patrick Fox with a time of 17:31.55 for the 5,000 meters. Ben Domingo ran the 60m hurdles and crossed the finish line with 8.73. In the 400m dash, Harrison Alonzo finished with 49.78, Christopher Purchia with 52.63 and Vincenzo Bruno at 54.33. For the 500m, Travis Delaney (1:06.16), Brian Oduor (1:06.28), and Jaiden Bradshaw (1:06.81) all competed. In the 1K run, Adam Guzman recorded 2:36.55 and Brendan Lucey 2:38.06.
Darion Lopez, Shane McCorry, Alberic Gbaguidi, and Thomas Dubnov Raz competed in the 4x200m relay and placed in third with a time of 1:30.36. The men ran the distance medley relay and placed fourth with a time of 10:26.89. Adam Guzman, Jay Glenn, Travis Delaney, and Jaxon Newton all competed. In the long jump, Ivan Lytovchenko and Brian Oduor both competed, with jumps of 6.55m and 6.49m respectively.
The Jaspers will compete again at the Millrose Games at the Armory on Friday, Feb. 9.
