RIVERDALE, N.Y. – On Sunday afternoon, the Manhattan Athletic Department, alongside Manhattan College SAAC, inducted the first class of the Chi Alpha Sigma national honors society alongside their annual Brunch with the Stars event.
A total of 208 Manhattan student-athletes were honored on Sunday for their achievements in the classroom.
To be honored at Brunch with the Stars, a Jasper student-athlete had to be an underclassman with a GPA of 3.2 or higher. To be inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, an upperclassmen student-athlete had to own a GPA of 3.4 or higher. 90 Jaspers were inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma while 118 were honored at Brunch with the Stars.
"We are very excited to revamp Brunch for the Stars and launch our inaugural Chi Alpha Sigma induction," said SAAC E-Board member
Kaitlyn Holly, who assisted in the planning of the event. "We put a lot of time into planning this event, and we are excited to honor all student-athletes for their classroom work. It isn't easy balancing athletics and school, and this event acknowledges the hard work that these student-athletes put forth every day to be great. I hope that Chi Alpha Sigma inspires athletes to come, and I am thrilled that we were able to bring a chapter to campus."
"Sunday's event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our student-athletes' academic accomplishments, and it was exciting to see our junior and senior student-athletes be the first Manhattan College class inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma," said Matt Raidbard, the advisor of the Manhattan Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma.
