RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan rowing team begins their fall season Sunday, October 16
th, at the Overpeck Fall Classic, hosted at Overpeck Park, the Jaspers home course. Manhattan will have two eight boats racing at 8:30 a.m., and one four-boat racing at 10:34 a.m.
Â
Kate Hickes is looking forward to her first full season as the Jaspers head coach, saying, "We are extremely excited to kick off our fall racing season at our home course this weekend. We are looking forward to using this as an opportunity to prepare our athletes for the Head of the Charles in Boston next weekend."
Â
The four boats used at Overpeck will again be used for the Head of the Charles the following weekend. Hicks has high hopes for this boat and believes the Overpeck will be an excellent opportunity to see how the lineup meshes together in a racing environment. "It is always great to be able to use a course we are familiar and comfortable with, and we intend to put out some fast boats to start the fall season."
Â
Hickes should have some experience to rely on as the Jaspers return 68-percent of last year's roster, including 10 returning seniors and three graduate students.
