EDISON, N.J. – For the first time this season, the Manhattan cross country programs swept the Ready Nutrition MAAC Cross Country Runners of the Week, with
Michael Hennelly and
Andria Scaglione earning the honors.
Both runners earned their recognition following their performances at last weekend's Metropolitan Championships just down the hill at Van Cortlandt Park.
Scaglione took home the individual title at the gathering of New York City schools, finishing in a time of 18:52.7 over the 5k course. She finished just over 30 seconds before the eventual second-place finisher from Fordham.
As for Hennelly, he recorded a third-place finish in his 8k with a final time of 26:54.0. His mile split for the race was 5:24.7. This is the second year in a row the Suffern, N.Y. native has finished in third at the Metropoliatan Championships.
The team's penultimate meets before the MAAC Championships are this weekend, with both teams once again make the short walk down to Van Cortlandt Park to run in the IC4A/ECAC Championships. The women will run first at 11 a.m. in the ECAC Championships, followed by the men who will run in the IC4A Championships soon after.
